It's March, which means the pool opens in just a little over two months! Hard to believe while it's snowing outside...

Come to the pasta dinner, visit with friends, and make sure you've joined the pool for our outstanding 2018 season. With that in mind, here's a soon-to-be-published Blackridge Blackboard Article reminding us why we love the BSC. Summer at the Blackridge Swim Club What a great year we had in 2017! The summer months at the pool flew by as we enjoyed the warm sun, cool water, and great events. We partied at Fiesta Fridays, Family Nights, Teen Nights, Movie Nights, Synchro Extravaganza, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. Throughout the summer we had smooth pool operations and an excellent safety record thanks to Annmarie Rodrigues our pool manager and Maria Taylor and Julianne Liberati our pool operators. The dedicated lifeguards, all “home grown” BSC folks, were professional, friendly, and welcoming. And we maintained healthy membership levels with well over 90 members for the second straight year. The BSC maintained its “resort-like” feel with clean grounds, new chaise lounges, tables, and chairs. The lifeguard chair was spruced up and a number of dangerous and diseased trees were removed from the perimeter of the grounds. Our very own Blackridge Barracudas had an unprecedented third straight nearly flawless record on their way to becoming Division II Champions, all thanks to many volunteers and our patient and encouraging coaches, Maria and Julianne. Again, three long-standing team records were broken this season. And more importantly, our swim team has grown to be one of the largest teams in the Eastern Swim Association. Friends that have grown up together at the pool, new team members in their first meets, private schooled, public schooled, and homeschooled kids all encouraged one another in our most successful season in over 20 years! Sadly, shortly after the season ended, we lost founding pool member, pool board member, and good friend Tony Schryer. Tony was a people-person. He was genuinely interested in how folks were doing. And he routinely commented how Blackridge, and the pool in particular, was such a treasure and worth investing in and maintaining. We miss Tony and we will especially miss him this coming summer at the pool. What makes the BSC such a great place to be, is our members. We met new folks and renewed old friendships. All the great events were made possible by skilled organizers and party planners. The leadership and management of the pool was steady and thoughtful, with an eye toward the future. And numerous people helped out behind the scenes to make serving on the board a real pleasure. The work it takes to make the BSC thrive and the time spent together at the pool strengthens relationships and commitment to the Blackridge community. This past season at the pool was a success in so many ways because of the support of the Blackridge community. As we look back, we realize how truly thankful we are to be a part of this neighborhood. The Blackridge Civic Association, the Blackridge Garden Club, and the Blackridge Swim Club are all such an asset and offer so many opportunities for people to serve the community. Blackridge is special, and we at the pool are looking forward to working and serving with the BCA and BGC in 2018 to make it even better. So come check us out this summer. Meet your neighbors. Make new friends. Enjoy the hidden gem that is the Blackridge Swim Club. We’ll “see you at the pool!” Blackridge Swim Club: By the Numbers
