This past summer was a tremendous year for the Blackridge Swim Club.  We had over 100 members, great weather, and outstanding events.

Feedback from our online survey was overwhelmingly positive.  Some of the highlights included:

• The members were welcoming and made my family feel at home.
• The life guards were the kindest of young adults!
• A great community builder! And a designated lane for swimming those laps!
• Swim Team, Swim meets & participating in swim club events.
• I like that it is a smaller pool and everyone knows everyone else - it is like extended family.

Financially we came up a bit short in 2016.  This was in part due to one-time costs that all hit this summer (electrical supplies and inspection, fixing the pump motor, pool operator training) and other unforeseen expenses.  It's also due to the normal rise in water, sewage, electric, and chemical costs.

We want 2017 to be every bit as successful as 2016.  So, for the first time since 2012, we're finding it necessary to raise membership rates.  See updated rates below:

• First Year:  $299 (back to 2015 level)
• Second Year:  $399
• Core:  $450
• Senior: $250 (now available outside Blackridge)
• Single:  $299 (no change)
• Two Person: $365
• Eve/Weekend:  $365

The good news is that you can still get 2016 Membership Rates for 2017 by participating in Blackridge Friday.

You are invited to come build and decorate a gingerbread house on Sunday November 20 from 3-5, at the BCA! The cost is $7 per house and we provide all the supplies for your decorating needs.

Invite all your family and friends. No one wants to miss this event! There is also a rumor that we will be having a special guest straight from the North Pole! RSVP to Maria at [email protected].

Tonight:  Proposed BCA Bylaws for 501(c)(3)
Our proposed 501(c)(3) bylaws are now available on our website for your review. Official voting will occur November 10th at 7PM at the clubhouse.  Questions can be emailed to Dirk Page ([email protected]) or Jen Suiters ([email protected]) before the meeting. All paid in full current BCA members (which includes all pool members!) are invited to come vote in person, or may vote by proxy by emailing yea or nay to Dirk Page or Jen Suiters at the email addresses provided above.

Thai Dinner Fundraiser rescheduled for Feb
Unfortunately, we've had to reschedule our annual Thai Dinner from Friday, November 18th to sometime in February.  We'll get you a new date as soon as one is set!

Gingerbread House Event

Holiday Wreath Making Workshop:
It’s time to plan for the Saturday, November 26 Holiday Wreath or Centerpiece Workshop. Laura Schoch, Blackridge neighbor and Phipps Display Horticulturalist, will help us create a lovely, live wreath or centerpiece for our homes.  Laura tells us that by ordering early, she can get a nicer selection of holiday greens and decor.

At this point, we simply need an accurate count so that she can secure the appropriate amount and type of materials.  Please contact Ceil ([email protected] or 412-247-5828) or me ([email protected] or 412-841-5005) to reserve your spot and let us know if you would prefer to create your unique centerpiece or wreath.

Call soon as this workshop fills up quickly. This activity is limited to 25 people. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
