Just a couple updates and reminders about events this week...
Today, Thursday, July 21: Final Swim Meet vs Rosedale, 6:30pm Note: Pool closes at 5pm today for the meet. Come grab some amazing kabobs, tacos, and other tasty treats at our concessions stand and cheer on our Barracudas to a 6-1 finish to the season! Friday, July 22: Teen Swim moved to 8pm - 10pm
Also note, Sundaes on Sunday has been postponed and will not be happening this Sunday. But, you can still come to the pool to stay cool on this very hot weekend! The Pump
Thanks to the help of a number of folks, the motor failure on the pump kept us out of the water for only two days. Granted, they were two really hot days, but we were back up and running for some weekend swimming! Special thanks to Tony Bigos, Linda Bauer, Julianne Liberatti, Maria Taylor, Dirk Page, and Pat Cummings for all helping in getting us up and running. Also, thanks goes out to Industrial Pump and Motor Repair (www.industrialpumpandmotor.com) for getting our motor diagnosed and repaired in such short order! Home Swim Meet Week It was already a busy swim meet week with home meets on Tuesday and Thursday. Now, due to thunderstorms interrupting last week's meet with Park, we'll be having one on Wednesday as well! That means the pool will be closing at 5pm for these three final home meets of the season.
So, grab a walking taco at the concessions stand, buy a 50/50 ticket, and cheer on our kids! Rescheduled Teen Night This Friday, July 22
Summary of this week and beyond:
Night at the Races Request Last week's newsletter highlighted the 2016 version of Night at the Races: September 10th at 5pm, with races starting at 6:30pm. The Racing Commission is looking for lottery tickets and has 119 horses left to sell... For the Night at the Races we are planning a lottery ticket board raffle this year. We will have at least $100 in tickets on the board. To widen the area of sources, and the variety of tickets, and to defray the cost of pulling it together, we are asking members of the BSC and BCA to donate 1 or more scratch off tickets to the cause. Tickets can be dropped off at the guard’s table, noon till 8:00 pm, during normal pool hours (you don’t have to be a pool member to drop off tickets) or contact the racing committee at [email protected] to coordinate a drop off. If you can’t make it to the event on September 10th, donating lottery tickets is an easy way you can support us and help make the event successful. Of course naming all the horses you purchase takes a bit more effort, but you can win $25 for your efforts. Owners need not be present to win. Beat the Labor Day rush, purchase your horses now. Great pool weather this week! So much so that WTAE did a story highlighting our very own Blackridge Swim Club!
It aired last night at 6pm and featured our role in helping Forest Hills residents have a great place to swim this summer. Thanks to Arianna Esplen for being our spokesperson! Reminder for today, Wednesday, July 13:
Coming up this Friday, 7/15: Teen Night!
Still Coming Up in July:
Night at the Races 2016 July 4th has come and gone and it is now Night at the Races season for the BCA. The doors open September 10th at 5:00 and racing starts promptly at 6:30. Tickets are $15 (Lasagna Rolls and NC BBQ Pork sandwiches will be on the buffet). Horses are still a $10 donation to the BCA - name your horse and if your horse wins, you win $25!
We have received checks from two race sponsors already! A big Thank You goes out to Congressman Mike Doyle and our own Pete Taylor Attorney at Law. Dirk Page is running the event again. To buy a ticket, horse or race sponsorship, donate items for the Chinese Raffle basket, or volunteer to help in a small (or bigger) role, call or text Dirk @ 412-848-2176 or send him an email at [email protected]. August Events coming soon... And, as always, our primary attraction is just hanging out together this summer at the pool. So come on down! It's a hot one today. A perfect day to go to the pool!
Hope you had a great time this weekend celebrating the 4th of July. Aside from being an oasis in the hot July sun, the pool has a lot to offer in the coming weeks. Ice Cream Man Today Remember, the ice cream man shows up on Wednesdays (today!) at 2:45pm. Come cool off in the pool and get a tasty treat. :) Swim Lessons Starting next Monday, July 11

Always a great time with many laughs. BYOB with an appetizer to share. $5.00 per person donation. We start right after swim practice at 8:30. Barracudas Defeat Edgewood Eels It was a signature win for Blackridge this past Thursday evening at our first home meet. The Barracudas swam their way to an impressive final score of 126-93. Our first home meet was a success in other ways as well! We had excellent food organized by Laura Cecconi, a beautiful national anthem sung by Cecelia and an incredibly smooth meet run by Pete Taylor. If you've never been to a home meet, come on down. You might even win the 50/50, just like Tony Schryer did! Three more home meets to go:
