Can it be? Is summer really coming to an end? The pool's open through Labor Day, so come down and take a swim while the water's still warm!
Pool Schedule Most of our guards need to get back to school this week, so starting this Thursday, August 25, the pool will be open on weekdays from 4pm - 8pm. Don't worry, we're still open noon - 8pm on the weekends and on Labor Day! Tree Trimming We've had some wild weather resulting in a downed tree limb in the parking lot. Thanks goes out to Dirk Page, John Busch, Al Aqra, and Zane Aqra for their chainsaws and help in getting the situation under control! Family Swim Meet The weather was great, the pool was warm, the competition was fierce, Glenn beat Ryan, and synchronized swimming may never be the same. All in all, it was a great event this past Saturday, raising money to help pay for the motor repairs this summer. We're still a bit short, so if you missed the event, feel free to send in a donation (P.O. Box 17102, 15235) or drop it at the lifeguard's station at the pool! Night at the Races Some will buy one, some will buy none, if we all bought two, we’d be done in a few... Not too long 'till N@tR on September 10th... We need to sell Horses! Remember that co-worker that sold you the wrapping paper last year? Ask them, and get even! ...at least they could win $25. Winner need not be present to win... (They weren't there to wrap that present, were they?) To buy horses and tickets (or get order sheets for that co-worker), call or text Dirk @ 412-848-2176 or send him an email at [email protected]. Horse names must be submitted and paid for by September 5th to be included in the program. So what are we really doing Saturday night, 6 - 9pm?
We're raising money. And seeing if Ryan can beat Glenn (see below). Remember the movie ‘The Blues Brothers,’ where Jake and Elwood need to raise $5,000 to keep their orphanage from closing, so they throw a concert, perform two songs, and run? That’s Saturday night, minus the sunglasses. The party, the Family Swim Meet – it’s all just a cover. We’re raising cash. The good news is that the orphanage won’t close if we don’t come through. But we do have a target - $2,000 - to help us pay for the motor that we repaired this season. Country Clubs would just send members a bill and tell them to pony up. But as you might have noticed, we’re not a country club. So we’re throwing a party. And coaxing Ryan to race Glenn. We’ve kept membership rates consistent for the past few years. We’ve found creative ways to nurse along the equipment. We’ve even helped a few who were facing financial hardship. And now we’re just facing a well-anticipated end-of-year pinch. So we’re asking for your help. So what can you do? Show up Saturday night, bring a dish to share, maybe a few brews, a couple of friends, and be ready to party. Bring the kids and come ready to swim. We’ll be staging races that you can bet on donate toward, and passing the hat. If you want, sign up for a race. It’s a clean, simple, rent party - a call for cash. And Ryan will race Glenn. Cash or check accepted. It's open to anyone you invite - your friends, neighbors, former members, local legislators...the more, the merrier. Saturday, August 20, 6:00-9:00pm 6:00pm - 6:30pm: Signups 6:30pm - 7:00pm: Challenge and Premiere race Auction 7:00pm - 8:00pm: Races! email Maria to sign up for races or just come and sign up on Saturday:

Clarity We apologize for having to close the pool two hours early last night due to water clarity issues. We've addressed the problem and the pool is well on it's way to being clean and clear for a noon opening today. And, don't forget the ice cream man today (Wednesday) at 2:45 pm! |
